The Proposal
IMP Environmental proposed to construct and operate an anaerobic digester and fertiliser batching facility at the wastewater treatment
plant, 2080 Bishopsbourne Road, in Longford, Tasmania. The facility will process organic material, which is otherwise disposed of as waste, to
produce high quality biological soil conditioner and renewable energy.
The proponent lodged a Development Application with a supporting Development Proposal and Environmental Management Plan (DPEMP) to the
Northern Midlands Council.
The application was referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).
The DPEMP was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of a DPEMP which were provided by
the Board.
