The Proposal

Riley Quarry Products is proposing to construct and operate a Level 2 quarry at Gravel Pit Road, Nook, processing up to 25,000 cubic metres of gravel product per annum.

The application was referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).

The proponent lodged a Development Application with a supporting Development Proposal and Environmental Management Plan (DPEMP) to the Kentish Council.

Public Exhibition of Documentation

A copy of the permit application, and of all plans and other documentation submitted with the permit application (including the DPEMP) were advertised for public comment. The public comment period is now closed.

Following the public comment period the proponent was required by the Board, to prepare a DPEMP Supplement to address issues raised in public and Government Agency consultation.

Environmental Assessment Report and EPA decision

The environmental assessment report (EAR) has now been completed and can be viewed below. This report contains an environmental assessment and recommendations to the Board in relation to the proposal.

The permit conditions required by the Board to be included in the land use permit, if a permit is granted, by Kentish Council are contained in Appendix 3 of the EAR.
