**The air station at Poatina was relocated to Latrobe on 9th May 2018. **
This page contains real-time data from the BLANKET air station at Poatina (central Tasmania) for today and yesterday. The Poatina station is located in open farm land approximately 3 km north-east of the town, at the foot of the Western Tiers.
The solar-powered BLANkET station was installed at Poatina in late October 2014. It is planned to operate at Poatina for 12 months. The location is of interest as there is evidence that air movement (and hence smoke movement ) is influenced by the effective wall presented by the Tiers. There are also reports of strong winds along the tier valley under certain conditions, which are possibly katabatic and/or foehn winds. The data from the station will provide information on this.
These data are indicative real-time data.
