Land contaminated by environmentally hazardous materials can potentially affect the health and amenity of communities and cause surface and ground waters to become contaminated. It represents a burden for future generations.

  2. Contaminated Land & Groundwater

    Contamination means the condition of land or water where any chemical substance or waste above background level and can result from current or historic land uses. Contamination can represent, or potentially represent, an adverse health or environmental impact which may require assessment, management and/or remediation to ensure land is suitable for its current or intended use.
  3. Remediation Programs

    The EPA Division co-ordinates the Derwent Estuary Program and the Savage River Rehabilitation Project.
