Tickets available for awards recognising environmental excellence

The 2011 Tasmanian Awards for Environmental Excellence will be announced on the evening of Friday 3 June at Wrest Point Casino.

The Environment Protection Authority will be hosting the 13th Awards, which continue to recognise the strong commitment of industries, organisations and individuals to protect, preserve and enhance the Tasmanian environment.

The Awards celebrate outstanding contributions and leadership in environmental management and stewardship and provide a perfect opportunity to showcase the latest advances in sustainable practices.

More than 30 entries have been received for this year’s awards, across all seven categories: Large Business Sustainability; Small Business Sustainability; Environmental Stewardship; Education; Local Government; Community; and Leadership in Climate Change Action.

As well as the seven award categories announced on the night, the Environment Minister’s Choice Award will be presented to the most outstanding nomination.

Larissa Brown will be the special guest speaker this year. Larissa was the 2008 Australian Young Environmentalist of the Year and the 2010 Victorian Young Australian of the Year.
