Nominations set to close soon for the EPA Sustainability Award

12 August 2014

A reminder that the 2014 Community Achievement Awards are now open but the nomination period will end on the 20th of August.

The Awards Australia – Community Achievement Awards for Tasmania are about recognising individuals, organisations and groups who are making a difference in our local communities and State.

Nominations are sought for the EPA Sustainability Award which recognises businesses and organisations that share a passion and commitment for sustainability and to reducing environmental impacts on their business and the community.

“The EPA’s vision is a Tasmania that is clean, healthy and sustainable. Waste management and resource efficiency are key elements of this,” EPA Board member Helen Locher said.

“The EPA Sustainability Award acknowledges businesses and organisations who have developed and implemented initiatives that have demonstrably delivered measureable improvements in waste and resource efficiency.”

“Regardless of the sector you work in, the EPA would like to recognise businesses who have demonstrated leading and best practice in this area and who reap the environmental, economic, and community benefits of focusing on waste and resource efficiency."

Submissions for the EPA Sustainability Award should be for a project or initiative that results in measurable improvements in waste and resource efficiency – reduce, reuse, recycle – not only for the business or organisation but with wider community or sector benefits.

Nominations opened on Wednesday 14th May and they close Wednesday 20th August.

The winners of the Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards will be announced at a gala presentation dinner in Hobart on Friday 21st November 2014.
