The aim is to ensure that in performing its functions, the Board recognises and takes into account published Tasmanian Government policies, or those advised in writing by the Minister. The Register represents a listing of the Government’s policy-type documents that the Board will take into account when relevant.
The Board is committed to working within the established administrative framework of the State of Tasmania, whilst also retaining its independence in performing its statutory duties.
The following policies and documents are included on the Board's Policy Register:
A. State Policies
These are statutory policies made under s. 11 of the
State Policies and Projects Act 1993:
B. Environment Protection Policies
These are statutory policies made under s.96K of the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994:
C. Policies or strategies approved or issued by the Minister for Environment
D. National Environment Protection Measures
National Environment Protection Measures are made by the National Environment Protection Council and are taken to be State Policies by virtue of s.12A of the
State Policies and Projects Act 1993:
E. National Policies or Guidelines
These are policies or documents with a policy content agreed to or endorsed by Tasmania at meetings of national environment Ministers. As such they may be considered Tasmanian Government policies.
F. Approved Management Methods (AMMs)
AMMs are made by the Director, EPA pursuant to regulation 19 of the
Environmental Management and Pollution Control (Waste Management) Regulations 2020 and equivalent provisions in preceding Regulations.
G. Codes of Practice
These industry operational guidelines were developed in consultation with stakeholders and endorsed by the EMPC Board (predecessor to EPA Board).

These were issued by the EMPC Board pursuant to clause 18 of the State Policy on Water Quality Management.
