Under the Right to Information Act 2009 we make information available to the public through proactive disclosure. This means we will routinely make available information to assist the public in understanding what it is we do and how we do it, such as the information on this page.

Assessments completed and percentage within statutory timeframes
Seventeen assessments were determined by the EPA Board or by the Director, EPA, under delegation. In 2022/23, 88.23% of assessments were completed within the statutory timeframe.

Number of environmental and contaminated land notices (issued or varied)
During the period, 219 notices were issued including

- Registration Certificates
- Contaminated Sites Notices

Number of variations approved to permits or environmental licences
Twenty variations were approved.
Number of environmental notifications to the EPA
The EPA's Notification Management System recorded 1405 entries for the 2022-2023 financial year. Notifications include level 2 notifications, general incidents, pollution incidents, investigation referrals, external agency referrals, as well as information and questions from various sources.
Forty entries were reported as incidents, including pollution events often involving other agencies (e.g. oil spills, fires). Forty-seven investigations were commenced.
Data released under the national pollutant inventory
Approximately 150 facilities in Tasmania report annually to the National Pollutant Inventory (NPI). Information is checked by the Tasmanian NPI Officer, submitted to the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and then published on the NPI website. Number of infringement notices issued
Of the 126 infringement notices, 67 Litter Infringement Notices were issued through the Litter Reporting System and 59 Environmental Infringement Notices included those issued by
regulators and investigators and infringement notices associated with
investigations into illegal dumping.
