Personal Information
The collection, maintenance, use and disclosure of your personal information is regulated by the Personal Information Protection Act 2004 (PIP Act). The PIP Act places specific obligations on personal information custodians. We will only disclose or use your information for the purpose for which you provided it to us. See the EPA Personal Information Protection Policy for more information.
What is 'Personal Information'?
Personal information is any information or opinion, recorded in any format, about an individual whose identity is apparent or is reasonably ascertainable from the information or opinion.
The PIP Act does not extend to public information. For example, if your email is contained in a publicly available record or publication it is public information and the PIP Act does not apply.
Information Collected
We only collect personal information that is necessary for us to perform our functions and activities, and we will only use or disclose this information for the purposes for which it was provided.
The type of personal information collected includes names, addresses and telephone numbers, together with any specific information that may be required to enable us to provide a service or administer legislation.
We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we hold is accurate, complete and up to date.
Anonymity
If you are making a general inquiry, it may not be necessary to identify yourself. However, if you want to obtain a service, identification may be necessary.
