The Proposal
Break O'Day Council has proposed to expand an existing gravel quarry (mining lease 1589 P/M) to produce up to 20,000M3 per annum. The quarry is located off Basin Creek Road near St Helens. Blasting, crushing and screening may be required.
The application has been referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).
The proponent lodged a Development Application with a supporting Environmental Effects Report (EER) to the Break O'Day Council.
The purpose of the EER is to provide a source of information upon which interested individuals, groups, government agencies and the Board
may consider the environmental and planning impacts of the proposal.
The EER was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of an EER which were provided by the
Board.
Public Exhibition of Documentation and Public Representations
A copy of the permit application, and of all plans and other documentation submitted with the permit application (including the EER) were made available for public inspection from Saturday 12 June 2010 until Monday 28 June 2010.
