The Proposal

Petuna Pty Ltd proposed to expand their existing fish processing factory in East Devonport. The proposal involves the construction of new buildings and the installation of new machinery to allow the production of up to 16,000 tonnes per annum of processed fish products. The proposal related to the following addresses: 134 Tarleton St; 132 Tarleton St; 11 John St and 117 Wright St.

The proponent lodged an Environmental Effects Report (EER) to Devonport City Council.

The application was referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority​ (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).

The EER was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of a EER which were provided by the Board.

A copy of the permit application, and of all plans and other documentation submitted with the permit application (including the EER) were made available for public inspection. The public comment period is now closed.

Environmental Assessment Report and EPA decision

The environmental assessment report has now been completed and can be viewed below. This report contains an environmental assessment and recommendations to the Board in relation to the proposal.

The permit conditions required by the Board to be included in the land use permit, if a permit is granted, by Devonport City Council are contained in Appendix 1 of the environmental assessment report.
