The Proposal
Stornoway Quarrying have proposed to develop and operate a quarry located near the intersection of Lyell and Murchison Highways, Queenstown. It is proposed that up to 5 000 cubic metres of rock would be screened, and up to a total of 20 000 cubic metres of material would be extracted per annum.
The application was referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).
The proponent lodged a Development Application with a supporting Environmental Effects Report (EER) to the West Coast Council.
The EER was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of a EER which were provided by the
Board.
Public Exhibition of Documentation and Public Representations
A copy of the permit application, and of all plans and other documentation submitted with the permit application (including the EER)
were advertised for public comment. The public comment period is now closed.

The environmental assessment report has now been completed and can be viewed below. This report contains environmental assessment and
recommendations to the Board in relation to the proposal.
The permit conditions required by the Board to be included in the land use permit, if a permit is granted, by the West Coast Council are
contained in Appendix 2 of the environmental assessment report.
