The Proposal

Tasmanian Advanced Minerals Pty Ltd has proposed to operate a waste depot for the disposal of a maximum of 10,000 tonnes per year of waste silica flour at the Blackwater silica mine located on Blackwater Spur 1 Road, off Blackwater Road, 33km southwest of Smithton

The proponent has the proposal a supporting Environmental Effects Report (EER) to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).

Public Exhibition of Documentation and Public Representations​

A copy of the EER was made available for public inspection at the Circular Head Council offices.  The pubic comment period is now closed.

Environmental Effects Report

The purpose of the EER is to provide a source of information upon which interested individuals, groups, government agencies and the Board may consider the environmental and planning impacts of the proposal.

The EER was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of an EER which were provided by the Board.

Environmental Assessment Report and EPA decision

The environmental assessment report has now been completed and can be viewed below. This report contains an environmental assessment and an Environment Protection Notice within which the conditions imposed by the Board on the conduct of the activity are contained.
