The Proposal
Tasmanian Dairy Products Co Pty Ltd has proposed to construct and operate a gas fired boiler capable of burning more than 1 tonne of natural gas per hour at their facility located at the corner of the Bass Highway and Irishtown Rd, Smithton.
The proponent has lodged a Development Application with a supporting Environmental Effects Report (EER) to Circular Head Council.
The application was referred to the Board of the
Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the
Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).
Public Exhibition of Documentation and Public Representations
A copy of the permit application, and of all plans and other documentation submitted with the permit application (including the EER) were made available for public inspection. The public comment period is now closed.
Environmental Effects Report
The purpose of the EER is to provide a source of information upon which interested individuals, groups, government agencies and the Board may consider the environmental and planning impacts of the proposal.
The EER was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of an EER which were provided by the Board.

The environmental assessment report has now been completed and can be viewed below. This report contains an environmental assessment and recommendations to the Board in relation to the proposal. The permit conditions required by the Board to be included in the land use permit, if a permit is granted, by Circular Head Council are contained in the environmental assessment report.
