The Proposal

Proponent proposed to construct and operate a Level 2 quarry and crushing facility at Mining Lease 1910P/M, 4 kilometres south west of Bicheno. The operation is expected to produce a maximum of 40,000 cubic metres of hard rock per annum.

The application was referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).

The proponent lodged a Development Application with a supporting Environmental Effects Report (EER) to the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council.

The EER was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of a EER which were provided by the Board.


Public Exhibition of Documentation and Public Representations

A copy of the permit application, and of all plans and other documentation submitted with the permit application (including the EER) were advertised for public comment. The public comment period is now closed.

Environmental Assessment Report and EPA decision

The environmental assessment report has now been completed and can be viewed below. This report contains an environmental assessment and recommendations to the Board in relation to the proposal.

The permit conditions required by the Board to be included in the land use permit, if a permit is granted, by Glamorgan Spring Bay Council are contained in Appendix 1 of the environmental assessment report.
