The Proposal
Heidelberg Materials is proposing to resume and intensify operations at the Underwood Quarry, located off Lilydale Road, approximately 12 kilometres north of Launceston. The proposal involves a production increase from a previously permitted limit of 93,750 cubic metres of dolerite rock (noting that the quarry is currently in care and maintenance) to 143,750 cubic metres of gravel per year, and includes the crushing and screening of extracted material. The activity will incorporate the recycling of up to 28,000 cubic metres. All extractive activity is to take place within the existing permitted footprint.

Impact Statement Guidelines
EIS Guidelines have been prepared by the Board to assist
the proponent to prepare a case for assessment. Based on the information
contained in the Notice of
Intent/Development Application, the guidelines identify the key issues
which are expected to be relevant to the assessment of the proposal.
