The Proposal
The proposal is to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant to improve the quality of wastewater discharged to Taswater trade waste.
The proposed wastewater treatment process is a Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) system, followed by aerobic treatment in a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) vessel with a sludge press to dewater and dispose of the waste sludge for the treatment process. The wastewater volume, frequency of discharge, discharge rates and discharge point will remain the same as current.
Development Application
This proposal was referred directly by Launceston City Council to the Board of the EPA on 12 September 2025 as a development application (DA0392/2025) and therefore a Notice of Intent (NOI) was not required.
Environmental Effects Report Guidelines
EER Guidelines have been prepared by the Board to assist the proponent to prepare a case for assessment. Based on the information contained in the Notice of Intent, the guidelines identify the key issues which are expected to be relevant to the assessment of the proposal.
