The Proposal
The proposal is to increase production from a maximum 200,000 cubic metres per year for the Cocked Hat Hill permit and maximum 55,000 metres per year for McGraths to a maximum 500,000 cubic metres per year (assumed 900,000 tonnes of product per annum based on a given BD of 1.8 tonnes per cubic metre.
The company also propose to import hard material (clean fill), consisting of concrete waste and recycled rock, which will be crushed, screened, and blended on-site, to be exported out for re-use. Up to 30,000 cubic metres of this recyclable material type will be imported to site throughout the year, with the same amount of material to be exported, once its ready for re-use.
A new access is proposed to replace the existing
access located at the eastern side of the two existing quarries. This new
access would connect to a new sales floor area (for stockpiling) proposed to be
established in or around 2025.
Development Application
This proposal was referred directly by Northern Midlands Council to the Board of the EPA on 12 Apriol 2024 as a development application (PLN-24-0052) and therefore a Notice Of Intent (NOI) was not required.
Environmental Impact Statement Guidelines
EIS Guidelines have been prepared by the Board to assist the proponent to prepare a case for assessment. Based on the information contained in the Notice of Intent, the guidelines identify the key issues which are expected to be relevant to the assessment of the proposal.
