​​The Pro​​posal

Shree Minerals Ltd is proposing to develop an iron ore mine near Nelson Bay River, approximately 7 km east of Temma in the northwest of Tasmania. The development will involve open cut mining to a depth of 80 metres, crushing of the ore, and establishment of waste rock dumps.

The proponent has lodged a Development Application with any supporting information to Circular Head ​Council.

The application was referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).​

​Draft DPEMP Guidelines and Proposal Description

The Tasmanian Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has prepared Draft Development Proposal and Environmental Management Plan (DPEMP) Guidelines which identify the key issues that must be addressed in the DPEMP for the above proposal. 

As part of the assessment process, public comment on the draft Guidelines was invited between 27 October 2018 and 10 November 2018.

The period for public comment on the draft DPEMP Guidelines has now closed.

Public Exhibition of Docume​​​ntation (DPEMP)

A copy of the permit application and all plans and other documentation submitted with the permit application (including the DPEMP) were made available for public inspection. The public consultation period has now closed.

Development Proposal and Environmental Management Plan​​​​ (DPEMP)

The purpose of the DPEMP is to provide a source of information upon which interested individuals, groups, government agencies and the Board may consider the environmental impacts of the proposal.

The DPEMP was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the Project Specific Guidelines for preparation of a DPEMP which were provided by the Board.
