The Pro​posal

​The proposal is for the addition of blasting (approximately 6 blasts per annum) to existing quarry operations at Mining Lease 1992P/M located at 2355 Bridgenorth Road, Westwood. There are no proposed changes to the quantity of rock to be extracted/processed (currently permitted to be a maximum of 50,000 cubic metres per annum of rock processed), or to any other processes at the quarry. 

The above proposal has been referred to the Board of the Environment Protection Authority (the Board) for assessment under the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPC Act). An Environmental Effects Report (EER) has been lodged in support of the above proposal. ​​ ​

Public Exhibition of Documentation

Correction - the advertisement in The Examiner on 26 September 2020 should have read 50,000 cubic metres per annum, not tonnes per annum. All other details about the proposal remain the same.

A copy of the supporting documentation was made available for public inspection. The Public Consultation period has now closed.

Supporting Docu​​mentation

Documentation submitted in support of the proposal provides a source of information upon which interested individuals, groups, government agencies and the Board may consider the environmental impacts of the proposal.

The EER was prepared by the proponent on the basis of the project specific guidelines for preparation of an EER which were provided by the Board.

Environmental Assessment Report and EPA Decision

The environmental assessment report has now been completed and can be viewed below. The report contains the permit conditions required by the Board to be included in the land use permit, if a permit is granted, by Council.
