​The Proposal

Sustainable Timbers Tasmania (STT) proposes to develop a new drilling and blasting quarry to produce road building and sheeting material. According to the permit application, the proposal is on Permanent Timber Production Zone land, will involve the extraction, crushing and screening of up to 20,000m3 per year, and will necessitate the clearing of 3.6 hectares of post-harvest regrowth forest.​​ 

Development Application

The proposal was referred directly by Circular Head Council to the Board of the EPA on 24 March 2026 as a development application (DA number 2025/008) and therefore a Notice of Intent (NOI) was not required. 

Environmental Effects Report Guidelines

EER Guidelines have been prepared by the Board to assist the proponent to prepare a case for assessment. Based on the information contained in the Notice of Intent, the guidelines identify the key issues which are expected to be relevant to the assessment of the proposal.
