The Proposal

Tassal Operations Pty Ltd propose to increase production at their Margate fish processing facility from 4,000 tonnes of product produced per annum up to 8,000 tonnes.

The proposed site intensification will lead to an increase in wastewater production from 46,596 kL (2019 discharge) up to approximately 75,000 kL per annum. The proposal is to discharge all treated wastewater to sewer, with the current wastewater treatment lagoons utilised for sewer/wastewater attenuation.

Stormwater will continue to be discharged into Northwest Bay. Fish waste will continue to be transported to Tassal's Triabunna facility.
