The Proposal
Wacks Crushing Pty Ltd is seeking a permit to operate an abandoned quarry located off Liapota Road, Tewkesbury. The proposal includes extracting and processing up to 200,000 cubic metres of product per year. Material will be won by drilling and blasting and ripping where possible and then crushed and screened to produce various products. Due to the nature of the basalt material, it will require washing at the final stage.
Development Application
This proposal was referred directly by Burnie City Council to the Board of the EPA on 13 October 2023 as a development application (DA No. 2023/99) and therefore a Notice of Intent (NOI) was not required.
