The EPA has both regulatory and advisory roles in relation to noise.
Management of Noise from Level 2 Activities
Noise produced by Level 2 Activities has the potential to cause annoyance and disturbance, particularly during the night time. The noise from multiple Activities may lead to loss of acoustic amenity. Noise emissions are managed to prevent such adverse impact.
Residential Noise and Hours of Use
To assist in protecting the community from unwanted noise, ‘Permissible Hours of Use’ have been established for machinery commonly used in garden and home maintenance, building and recreational activities.
Noise and Land Use
Land use planning can play a very effective and strategic role in minimizing the impact of noise by encouraging the segregation of sources of noise and noise-sensitive developments.
