Resources for Local Government

Resources for Local Government can assist Council officers with their obligations under Tasmania’s environmental management and pollution control legislation.

​​​​​​As co-regulators, EPA Tasmania and Local Government have a number of statutory responsibilities outlined in Tasmania’s environmental management and pollution control legislation, and especially the  Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994. The following provides links to various resources for Local Government officers.​

  • Tools and Resources
    Access to a number of EPA tools and resources such as factsheets, guidelines, and procedures to assist Local Government with assessing and regulating level 1 activities.

    A list of capacity building events such as workshops, seminars and training sessions, as well as any supporting documentation provided at past events.
  • Technical Support
    Where to find information and advice regarding a number of issues including environmental assessment and regulation, complaint handline, incident response, compliance and investigation, as well as roles and responsibilities under EMPCA.
  • FAQs
    Common questions and issues, and where to go to get assistance.
  • Local Government Engagement
    EPA Tasmania has a long standing relationship with Local Government and is looking for ways to further improve this relationship as well as the coordination of environmental regulation activities through a partnership approach.
