Legislative Context - Air

​​All levels of government seek to protect and improve air quality through action to reduce emissions of major air pollutants. The focus is on those activities that make the greatest contributions to adverse air quality as well as those pollutants that continue to pose threats to the environment and human health.

  • National Programs
    The Australian government and peak national bodies set standards and operate incentive programs that aim to improve air quality.
  • Ozone Protection Regulations​
    The Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy issues licences for people who buy, sell, store or handle ozone depleting or synthetic greenhouse gas.
  • Tasmanian Programs
    The Tasmanian government develops strategies and implements legislation that aims to improve air quality.
  • State of the Environment Reports
    A process for describing, analysing and communicating information on conditions and trends in the environment.
