Port Arthur - December 2019

​​​​EPA Tasmania has undertaken water quality monitoring in the Port Arthur region. Monitoring was undertaken on 9 December 2019.

The monitoring was undertaken to determine point in time water quality across the area, appraise the ​condition of sea grass beds and assess opportunistic algal growth levels. The monitoring undertaken may be replicated in the future to provide a comparison to the December 2019 findings.


Purpose of Water Quality Monitoring

  • Provide water quality information to increase the understanding of water quality in the Port Arthur Region
  • Provide a summer snapshot of water quality, sea grass condition and opportunistic algal growth levels
  • Provide independent validation of water quality information collected by (or on behalf of) Tassal under the terms of Environmental Licence 9959/2
