New kits raise awareness of stormwater pollution

Stormwater drain stencilling kits have been developed for Tasmanian schools and community groups to help spread an important environmental message.

The stencilling project highlights the connection between neighbourhood drainage systems and our waterways and coast.

The kits were launched at Rosetta High School this week and have been developed for schools and community organisations to stencil stormwater drains with important awareness messages such as "the drain is just for rain", "drains to the river" and "drains to sea".

They will be available on loan from the Environment Division after local government permission has been granted for a stencilling program.

The kits have been developed as part of the Living Environment Program.

For more information or to order a kit, contact a DTAE stormwater management officer on 6233 3595.
