Resource efficiency seminars highlight clean, lean production

Tasmanian industries are actively participating in a new State Government program to increase resource efficiency and minimise waste.

At recent seminars in Hobart and Launceston, resource efficiency expert and consultant Arek Sinanian highlighted some of the advances made.

Clean and lean production has been embraced as a smart business strategy by the Cascade Brewery with an astounding 70%% reduction in energy consumption over the past 5 years.

Cadbury Schweppes has moved the Company’s culture towards continual improvement. While Tascot Templeton Carpets and the printer Penfold Buscombe were among others cited by Mr Sinanian.

CleanBiz emphasises that enormous productivity gains can be made simply by using resources more efficiently.

It is capitalising on a fundamental shift in business thinking. Environmental issues are no longer being viewed as costs and instead are seen as an opportunity to add value for business.

CleanBiz is part of Tasmania’s Living Environment Program and is backed by the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
