Call for Expressions of Interest - Board of Environment Protection Authority

​The Minister for Environment and Climate Change seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the Board of Tasmania's Environment Protection Authority (EPA). The positions available are:

  • Member - with practical knowledge of, and experience in, environmental management in local government.

  • Deputy Member - either with practical knowledge of, and experience in, environmental management in industry, commerce or economic development or practical knowledge of, and experience in, environmental management in local government or expertise in one or more of the following - environmental conservation, natural resource management, air, noise or water pollution, management and prevention of waste, environmental health or social and economic analysis.

The EPA oversees Tasmania's environmental assessment and regulatory system, which is an integral part of the State's Resource Management and Planning System. The Board's primary functions are to assess environmental impacts and determine appropriate operating conditions for the larger scale developments described in the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994. Other areas of responsibility include environmental agreements, audits, improvement programs, financial assurances, the Environment Protection Fund, the Savage River Rehabilitation Project, fee remissions and policy implementation.

Appointments to the Board will be for a period of three years. Members will receive an annual allowance and the Deputy Member will receive sitting fees for attendance at meetings, when required.
