The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is calling for nominations for this year's EPA Sustainability Awards.
In 2023, the EPA will be celebrating 10 years as naming rights sponsor for the EPA Sustainability Award category of the Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards (TCAA) run by Awards Australia.
Following a review of the award criteria, the EPA is pleased to announce that from 2023 they will be sponsoring two Award categories:
- EPA Sustainability Award (Industry)
- EPA Sustainability Award (Community).
EPA Director, Mr Wes Ford said that having two awards recognising sustainability across both the industry and community sectors allows for an easier and fairer method for judging criteria and achievements across each sector.
“The Awards are open to Tasmanian businesses, groups and organisations that are making practical efforts in the Tasmanian community towards environmental sustainability," said Mr Ford.
“We are interested in showcasing projects and initiatives that have delivered measurable improvements in preventing pollution, conserving energy and water, minimising waste and maximising resource efficiency," he said.
Submissions should be for a project or initiative that results in measurable improvements in any or all of the following areas: energy efficiency, water conservation, resource efficiency, waste minimisation; and results in wider community or flow-on benefits to the sector.
Nominations are now open until Tuesday 1 August 2023, and the winners will be announced at a gala presentation on Friday 13 October 2023.
