Report on salmon mortality event released

The Department of Natural Resources Tasmania (NRE Tas) and Environment Protection Authority (EPA) have released a report into the 2025 salmon mortality event.

The Reflections and Learnings – 2025 Mortality Event Report is the outcome of a multi-agency de-briefing process and is being used to assist in strengthening regulatory coordination ahead of the summer period and any future marine events.

Ten actions focused on continuous improvement for the government agencies and industry will be implemented, and work has commenced on several of these as outlined on the NRE Tas and EPA webpages.

A copy of the full report is available on the NRE Tas website: 2025 Salmon Mortality Event page

And on this page Reflections and Learnings - 2025 Mortality Event Report on the EPA website: www.epa.tas.gov.au

A progress report detailing the status of implementation of the actions will be published on the NRE Tas website in February 2026.
