Compliance Policies

Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements can include a range of actions such as education and creating awareness, assisting industry, partnerships and monitoring to non-formal and formal enforcement through investigations, statutory warnings, infringement notices and prosecution.

The Department is guided by the DPIPWE Compliance Policy, which establishes the broad approach for engaging with our regulated communities and stakeholders.

The EPA Compliance Policy applies to the enforcement of the provisions of EMPCA.  It will generally be used when other efforts to obtain compliance have been unsuccessful, or in more serious situations where full investigations are necessary.
