Compliance and Incident Response
EPA Tasmania, a Division of the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) engages with our regulated communities to encourage, monitor and, where necessary, enforce compliance with the legislation that we administer.
Investigations are carried out in accordance with Department compliance and enforcement policy and procedures consistent with national standards.
- Compliance with LegislationPolicy guides decision-making about the application of enforcement measures, and sets out the general principles, criteria and measures that EPA Tasmania will use where non-compliance is identified. It will generally be triggered when other efforts to secure compliance have been unsuccessful, or for matters where a full investigation of suspected non-compliance is deemed necessary.
