Lagoon Design and Management

​The guideline on the Design and Management of Tasmanian Lagoon Systems, 1996 is a comprehensive guide for designing and maintaining sewage lagoon systems.

The guidelines discuss PONDCAL, a program developed to help design lagoons for temperate areas of Australia.

There are also guidelines specifically for lagoon liners. Lagoon liners ​must be properly constructed to comply with clause 24 of the State Policy on Water Quality Management 1997, which requires safeguards to be put in place to minimise risks of groundwater contamination.
