Tasmania prides itself on its clean air, water and land, yet litter is often visible in our parks, reserves and roadsides.
Not only is litter unappealing, it ends up in our waterways and in the ocean. Reducing and preventing littering and dumping is everyone’s responsibility: governments, businesses and individuals. The State Government is working to address littering.
This includes cracking down on littering by increasing penalties, developing a litter reporting web portal with local government and a system to utilise offenders on community correction orders to undertake planned litter clean ups in parks and reserves.
