In addition to operational monitoring undertaken by the finfish farming industry, EPA conducts independent monitoring of water quality and other parameters in some marine based farming regions.
The EPA currently conducts water quality monitoring in:
- D'Entrecasteaux Channel
- Storm Bay
- Port Arthur
- Macquarie Harbour
The EPA also currently conducts monitoring of opportunistic nuisance algae on shallow reefs and seagrass beds at 120 sites around southeastern Tasmania including:
- D'Entrecasteaux Channel
- Storm Bay
- Nubeena
- White Beach
- Port Arthur
- Okehampton Bay
