The EPA commissioned reviews of the current Broadscale Environmental Monitoring Programs (BEMPs) operating in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and Huon River, Storm Bay, and Macquarie Harbour. The comprehensive reviews have been undertaken by Professors Kenny Black and Paul Tett, from the Scottish Association of Marine Sciences (SAMS) in the UK.
Both Professors Black and Tett are world-leading experts on the Environmental Interactions of Aquaculture, and they were tasked to evaluate the suitability and efficacy of these monitoring programs across various Tasmanian marine and estuarine environments.
These reviews were a resource in the development of the Environmental Standard for Marine Finfish Farming, ensuring that environmental monitoring practices remain contemporary for Tasmania. The first two reviews have been completed. When the remaining review is completed, it will also be made available on this website.
