Client: MMG Australia Limited
Premises: Roseberry Mine
Activity: depots for the reception, storage, treatment or disposal of waste
Class of Assessment: 2B
Assessment Commenced: 5/7/2022
The proposal is for a permanent change of operations at MMG's 2/5 Dam tailings storage facility in Rosebery. The tailings storage facility was previously approved by the EPA in 2016 with a requirement for tailings to be deposited sub aqueously (under water). The change in operations proposes tailings to be deposited subaerially. It is anticipated that the required minimum 2m water cover on closure will no longer be possible if permanent subaerial tailings deposition is undertaken.
